Gynecomastia Palo Alto
There is no known cause in the vast majority of cases. Certain drugs (anabolic steroids, estrogen-containing medications), medical problems, actual glandular enlargement, disproportionate fat deposits with normal weight, and obesity have been linked to the male breast overdevelopment.
Glandular gynecomastia is usually seen in younger males. It is interesting to note that it may affect only one breast or both. Glandular gynecomastia is often accompanied with some excess fat. Vaser® Ultrasonic Liposuction and direct excision of glandular tissue via a periareolar (edge of nipple) incision works well. The small incision is less than ½ inch in length. The skin contracts naturally and a normal appearance results. As stated before, there is almost never a definable cause and blood chemistries are almost always normal. Diagnosis is benign.
Gynecomastia is common in obesity or in males over 40. They can be treated with Vaser® Ultrasonic Liposuction alone. The results are excellent, the skin contracts nicely, and complications are rare. Occasionally, very large males, may need a breast skin and fat reduction. However, this is not as common.
